Weezer Brings Modern Rock "Raditude"

to the Fair!

The Champlain Valley Fair welcomes modern rock band Weezer, with guest artist Coheed and Cambria, to the Coca Cola Grandstand on Thursday, September 2. The show begins at 7 pm on the Comcast Stage. Tickets will go on sale through the Flynn Theater Box Office on Friday, July 16 at 10 am. Tickets may be purchased online at www.flynntix.org or by phone at 802-86-FLYNN and may also be purchased at Copy Ship Fax Plus at 159 Pearl Streetin Essex Junction. Weezer appears as part of the 2010 Bud Light Music Series at the Champlain Valley Fair. Weezer is presented by radio station 99.9 The Buzz. Weezer consists of Rivers Cuomo (vocals, guitar), Pat Wilson (guitar, drums,) Brian Bell (guitar, vocals), and Scott Shriner (bass, vocals). Raditude, the band's latest album, caps off a remarkable decade that saw Weezer reassert its position as one of the biggest, best rock bands in the world while also seeing their influence echo through a generation who absorbed the sound and feel of the group’s two classic ‘90s albums: their self-titled 1994 debut, dubbed The Blue Album featuring such era-defining hits as “Undone—The Sweater Song” and “Buddy Holly” and their cult classic 1996 sophomore set Pinkerton. Weezer refused to ride on those past glories when they returned in 2001 with The Green Album, sounding vigorous on the hits “Hash Pipe” and “Island in the Sun.” The heavy Maladroit, featuring “Dope Nose” and “Keep Fishin’,” followed in 2002. Three years later, Weezer released Make Believe in 2005, an album highlighted by “Beverly Hills,” their first single to climb into the Top Ten of the Billboard Hot 100. The Red Album arrived in 2008 along with the single “Pork and Beans” whose YouTube-satirizing video won Weezer their first Grammy.

It would be hard to find a band with grander artistic scope than Coheed and Cambria. Over the course of six years and four groundbreaking albums, the New York foursome (Claudio Sanchez – vocals, guitar; Travis Stever – guitar; Michael Todd – bass; Chris Pennie – drums) has diligently developed a unique sound combining forward-thinking classic rock with strong pop sensibilities and intricate musicianship. Simultaneously, through his lyrics and comics, Sanchez has created a celebrated epic alternate universe called The Amory Wars, in which lies an ongoing conceptual tale that gains depth and complexity with each and every record.

One of America’s most prolific comedians, Bill Cosby has dazzled generations of fans with his comedy routines, also captured on his iconic albums and best-selling books such as Fatherhood and the groundbreaking The Cosby Show.  Cosby broke television’s racial barrier with a role in I Spy, becoming the first African American to costar on a television series and win three consecutive Emmys for “Outstanding Lead Actor” in the dramatic series.  The veteran comic hosted the Emmy-winning cartoon Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids, which began airing in the 1970s and was made into a film in 2004.  The show, based on Cosby’s childhood in Philadelphia, was designed to educate and entertain. Perhaps Cosby’s greatest contribution to American entertainment and culture is The Cosby Show, about a close-knit, upper class black family.  The Cosby Show dominated the No. 1 spot for years, earning nearly unanimous critical praise.
