ACL Injuries: Prevention Programs that work

1-Non-Contact ACL injuries are more common in girls
2-Sportsmetrics is a program that can prevent the injury
3-Local research has been done on this program
There are a number of exercise based programs that try to prevent this injury. This lecture will explain the injury and the program that has been shown to work, “Sportsmetrics,” Dee PT is the only clinic in Vermont that is certified in Sportsmetrics, The Cincinnati Sports Medicine program.

Parental Influence on Youth Sports

Description of Topic: Strengthening exercises have been shown to improve running economy: Faster with less effort. This will be explained using scientific references. Injury rates are less in runners who do these exercises however the right amount, done correctly and at the correct time are important. This will be demonstrated.

Most running injuries are the result of poor shoe selection, poor training methods or a combination. This lecture will help solve the issue of which shoe is the best
for any one individual. I have delivered this lecture to over 1500 running athletes this past summer at the Green Mountain Running Camp at Lyndon State and also at Dartmouth College, Gold Medal Running Camp. The lecture will be followed with a question and answer period.

Postural Restoration

Postural Restoration is a physical therapy treatment approach that is posture based. It incorporates proper breathing techniques and function to reduce postural imbalance and their compensatory patterns.

The Ultimate Winter Challenge- 300 miles on the Catamount Trail

Description of topic: The topic will be focused around using the Catamount Trail as a form of winter outdoor recreation. What the trail is, how to use it, what equipment is needed, planning a trip, Inn-to Inn skiing, and much more.

Dance Fitness

1-Use of Latin music/dance style and other world rhythms is unique
2-Zumba is mostly a low-impact, high intensity workout
3-Easy to follow, yet challenging enough that you don't get bored
A regular Zumba Fitness class is one hour long. You'll enjoy many latin dance styles such as: salsa, merengue, pachata, ch-cha, cumbia, and also some African, hip-hop and belly dance. We follow an aerobic curve to warm up properly, build intensity, then cool down followed by some strength routines and a five minute stretch finale.

Floor Hockey Game

Dogs jumping over hurdles, run through tunnels, go over teeters, climb A-frames, and do it all with precision and speed. Approximately 20 dogs of all breeds and sizes will navigate a regulation-size agility course with their handlers. This show will be held outdoors. If it rains, they will move indoors.
